count the fish

When a two week diving trip to the Red Sea crops up, you try and make it happen. So, with fellow Falmouth University students and expert staff we headed off to Marsa Shagra, Egypt, for a mid winter break from our Cornish seas.
The weeks consisted of diving 3-5 times a day, snorkelling in between and camping on the beach, on the shore of the reef.
When you're used to the few metres of visibility and masses of kelp that frequent UK shores (occasional exceptions- still largely unbeatable in my eyes), and then plunge into bath temperature water with 20+ metres of visibility and sealife swarming you, you do not take it for granted. SD cards full and batteries dead we'd finish the day with editing, recharging- kit and ourselves, have conversations with now lifelong friends and sleep deeply for the next days sunrise.
